Ben Marksby
Date of Birth: 5/10/99
From: Darlington
Record: 9-0
Weight: Lightweight
BEN won six National titles as an amateur and was defeated just ten times in 91 bouts so it comes as no surprise that VIP Boxing expect him to reach the top.
His Dad is Andy Marksby one of Britain’s top amateur trainers but he is not involved on that side of his son’s career because he is a GB coach.
He is trained by his father’s friends Anth Kelly and John Stubbs at Tenacity Boxing.
On his professional debut in October, Marksby impressed in Liverpool winning 40-36 against Ghana’s Benjamin Lamptey.
The following month it was another shutout with Vitalii Maksymiv on the receiving end in Leeds.
Marksby ended 2021 by showing why he is rated as a serious hope shutting out Lee Connelly over four rounds. Lee is a sold test for any boxer in only his third fight.
In his first outing of 2022, he travelled to Hull and won all four rounds against 84 fight veteran Naeem Ali.
He had two further fights in 2022 and showed immense promise outpointing Rustem Fatkhullin and Santiago Garces on the big Troy Willamson v Josh Kelly undercard.
It was more of the same in 2023 with Ricardo Fernendez, local rival Jordan Ellison and previously unbeaten Kurt Jackson all outpointed over six rounds
