JAKE HARRISON now has to show what he is all about after a shocking loss. The Gemini ABC star always looked to have star potential and proved that by capturing his first professional title in just his eighth professional contest. That came in September 2023 when Jake outclassed and stopped fellow Liverpool boxer Jack Dwyer in three rounds to capture the vacant Central Area Bantamweight crown.

It all went wrong in his first defence in March 2024 at Liverpool’s Grand Central Hall when he was knocked out in five rounds by outsider Logan Richardson. Their showdown was a classic and in the balance until Harrison was dropped in round four. He survived before being knocked out after 20 seconds of round five by the Hull man. He bounced back in July, outpointing decent Mexican Erick Omar Lopez.

He made a winning debut in October 2021, dropping fellow first-timer Kieran McAfee in the opening session and then kept his concentration well to win 40-35 on points. Jake went one better in his second pro outing a month later, stopping Ukrainian import Stanislav Bilohurov in the second round.

Harrison was taken the distance in his first outing of 2022 but comfortably outscored Engel Gomez. In July, he took on Southampton-based Viktor Vazhlivtsev and took a comfortable points win over four rounds. His third and final fight of the year was another at Liverpool Olympia where John Spencer was outpointed over six rounds.

There were issues matching Harrison in March 2023 and he was forced to outpoint Spencer again, over six with the Manchester man just about making it through. Win number seven came in June. Harrison was mightily impressive once again, outpointing Stephen Jackson over six in an area title warm-up.

He was a solid amateur and won two national titles.
