MICKEY ELLISON is looking to climb the domestic rankings after continuously defying the odds. Few would begrudge him a big opportunity after his monumental upset win over Tony Bellew’s unbeaten hope Thomas Whittaker Hart at Wembley Arena in October 2022.
Ellison who was making the first defence of Central Area Light-Heavyweight title he captured against VIP stablemate Jake Barton three months earlier was a 7/1 underdog. After his sixth round stoppage of Barton, Mickey surpassed himself again deservedly winning a quality bout 96-95.
He has bounced back brilliantly from a September 2020 setback when he was caught cold by unbeaten Irish hopeful Padraig McCrory and stopped after 70 seconds of the opening round. He was back nine months later and strongly fancied to beat ex-VIP stable mate Charlie Schofield for the second time and repeat his 2019 win. Schofield ripped up the script in their vacant English Super-Middleweight title showdown winning on points after ten rounds. With plenty of experience behind him and now comfortable at Light-Heavyweight , Ellison who turned professional in October 2016 will be looking for serious paydays after upsetting Barton and Whittaker Hart.
