JOSH WARRINGTON AND VIP PROMOTIONS TEAM UP WITH TALKSPORT

FORMER World Featherweight champion Josh Warrington’s promotional debut in Leeds will be streamed live on talkSPORT’s YouTube channel.

Although becoming a three-time World champion is Josh’s number one priority, he begins his next career at John Charles Centre for Sport in his home city on Saturday July 13.

The stacked card promoted by VIP Promotions and Warrington’s, Leeds Warrior Promotions will feature some of British boxing’s best young talent and promised to be an unforgettable event.

Warrington said: “My fighting career is far from over but this is a natural progression for me.

“I can’t wait for July 13 when memories of starting out on smaller cards will come flooding back, and it’s even better that the bill features boxers trained by my Dad who train with me.

“Steve Wood has managed my career brilliantly and he is the man to help me develop on the other side of the ropes.

“It’s a burning desire of mine now to help produce the next World champion from Leeds.

“It will be a special night, a few miles from where I was raised and with the backing of the talkSPORT Boxing YouTube platform it cannot get much better.”

Steve Wood added: “Josh has been loyal to me from day one and if VIP Promotions can play a part in getting him started and perhaps taking over from me one day I’ll be delighted.

“Josh has always been interested in the business side of boxing and it comes as no shock to he want to be a promoter. He is a college of boxing knowledge.

The Leeds Warrior recently joined VIP Promotions directors and is active in his new position even though winning a third World title is his biggest goal right now.

It was announced this week that he will be moving up in weight to face newly crowned IBF Super Featherweight champion Anthony Cacace on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua v Daniel Dubois IBF World Heavyweight title fight at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 21st September.

“Since Josh joined the VIP board he has been pushing for shows in Leeds and this will be the first of many in his home city.” said Wood.

“It’s a landmark moment for the VIP brand and our team to have talkSPORT on board. July 13 can’t come quick enough.

“talkSPORT who are the biggest in their field and whose content cannot be rivalled. It is a great opportunity for the VIP brand.”

Warrington’s gym-mate super-featherweight Levi Smith and welterweight KO King Travis Waters are the main attractions.

Hash Rehman, Jake Goodwin and debutant Jodie Wilkinson who also train alongside Warrington are also in action.

VIP managed boxers Connor Lawrence and Roan Stanley are also in action. Doncaster’s Jamie Mellers also boxes on the card.

Ed Huntley - talkSPORT Boxing Editor added: “At talkSPORT, we like to call ourselves the home of Boxing. In order to do this we're aiming to give all levels of Boxing a platform.

Our partnership with VIP Boxing follows on from successful ventures with GBM and Fightzone and we're excited to grow the talkSPORT Boxing Youtube channel with more quality fights for fans to watch free of charge.

Fans will be closer to the action than ever before with exclusive coverage and interviews on our YouTube channel.

Whether it’s free to watch Boxing on YouTube or free to listen to commentary on the radio - the TalkSPORT Network is your home for Boxing.”
